Prepare a bill of lading for use with FedEx Freight: enter shipper, consignee, billing and freight details, then download a PDF. Everything stays in this browser.

How to Fill Out a FedEx Freight Bill of Lading

FedEx Freight currently states that a customer completing a paper bill of lading may use a BOL from a source other than FedEx Freight. Work through the form in this order:

  1. Check the date and the suggested Bill of Lading No., and choose a service if you want to record one.
  2. Enter the shipper and consignee, including the optional FedEx Freight account number and contact details.
  3. Mark Prepaid or Collect. If someone other than the shipper or consignee pays, fill in Bill Freight Charges To.
  4. Select any optional services, then add one commodity line for each distinct item.
  5. Download the PDF (or Word file), print it, and have it signed by the people who need to sign it.

BOL Number vs PRO Number

  • The BOL number is the shipper's own reference for the shipment on the bill of lading.
  • The PRO number is used by FedEx Freight for shipment tracking.
  • BOLFORM suggests a BOL number, which you can change, and never generates a PRO number.

Standard NMFC/Class Fields and Space and Pace

The standard FedEx Freight paper BOL contains NMFC Item # and Class fields, and so does this form. FedEx Freight Space and Pace is a separate program with its own BOL. This form does not support it.
